What type of cover is best for me?

What is Full Cover?

Full Cover car insurance is cover for the following situations:
  • The unexpected loss or damage to your vehicle whether that loss or damage is your fault or the fault of someone else; and
  • The loss or damage to the other party’s vehicle or property if the accident is deemed to be your fault.
This type of car insurance is offered on all vehicles provided they are being used for domestic use only.

Our policy wording details all the important inclusions and exclusions of our Full Cover Policy, however some important points to note are:
  • This is a market value policy
  • Accidental damage, malicious damage, theft and attempted theft are covered
  • If your vehicle is modified, it is important that we are advised of all modifications and their respective values

What is Third Party Fire and Theft?

A Third Party Fire and Theft policy covers the loss or damage you may do to a vehicle or property belonging to someone else as well as the loss of your own vehicle by fire or theft only. Essentially this means that if you have an accident that is your fault, the damage to your vehicle will not be covered but the damage you cause to a vehicle belonging to someone else will be.

This is a more affordable type of car insurance and may be more suitable for lower value vehicles.

Our policy wording details all the important inclusions and exclusions of our Third Party Fire and Theft Policy.

What is Third Party Only?

A Third Party policy covers the loss or damage you may do to a vehicle or property belonging to someone else only. There is no cover here for your vehicle.

This is your cheapest option for car insurance however the cost needs to be weighed against the fact that if you have an accident that is your fault you will have to pay for your own repairs.

What is a Named Driver Policy?

In the first instanced we will quote you for a named driver policy which is your most economical policy option. This means that we are insuring yourself and up to 2 other named drivers on your policy only. If anyone who is not named on your policy is driving your car when an accident occurs, you will not be covered.

The other two named drivers can be changed at any time. We will require each of your two named drivers answer the driver history questions you have answered on the quote before the policy is finalised.

Other policy options are available such as “Open drivers over 25”, please feel free to ask us to quote again if you would prefer this option.

What are my Excesses?

An excess is the amount of money you will have to pay towards each claim lodged. In some cases we are able to waive or refund your excess. There will be a general excess on all of the policies detailed above. Where your chosen policy covers theft and malicious damage, a separate excess will apply to these claims. These excesses will be included in your quotation and on your policy documentation.

In addition there are two further age excesses which apply if:
  • you are between 21 and 25 years old; or
  • you are under 21 years old.
These additional excesses will be included in your quotation and noted on your policy documentation. If you are over 25 years of age these two additional age excess
